South Hayward Parish Food Pantry will host a major fundraising event on Saturday, October 2 at Westminster Hills Presbyterian Church in Hayward. William Florian, who sang with the New Christy Minstrels in the 1970s, will perform, entertaining everyone with the music of a time dear to the hearts of baby boomers everywhere - the "protest" music of Bob Dylan, Pete Seegar, Woody Guthrie; the old favorites of Peter, Paul and Mary, the Kingston Trio and many more.

All proceeds from this event will go the Parish Food Pantry, helping to feed the ever-increasing number of families who seek assistance from the Pantry each week. Last year, the program provided food boxes for 3,500 unrepeated individuals of whom 43 percent were children under 18 years of age.

Support the Pantry and have a fun night out by attending this event. In addition to good music and delicious food there will be a silent auction with a variety of items, from a one-of-a-kind hand-made quilt to a lawyer who will draw up your last will and testament.

The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with refreshments and the opportunity to bid on the silent auction items. Florian's performance will begin at 6 p.m. Westminster Hills Presbyterian Church is located at 27287 Patrick Avenue, Hayward.

Tickets are $25 for regular admission, $20 for seniors, and $15 for students. Children under six are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the Parish office at (510) 782-5795 or be bought at the door.
