Dollars and Dimes

Submitted By Grace Drinkwater

Looking to stretch that dollar and help your community at the same time? Want to go a little greener and purchase gently used but new-to-you items for yourself or your children? Look no further than Dollars and Dimes, Fremont Parents' Nursery School's first annual rummage sale and community gathering, featuring gently used children's and adult clothing, baby and children's gear, toys, books, household items and more. Dollars and Dimes is taking place Saturday, October 2 from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fremont Parents' Nursery School (FPNS), 4200 Alder St. in Fremont.

FPNS will be accepting cash only at Dollars and Dimes and all proceeds will benefit FPNS, a non-partisan, non-profit, and nonsectarian organization providing preschool to children ages 2 through pre-Kindergarten.

More than just a rummage sale, Dollars and Dimes aims to bring the greater Tri-City community together for a fun afternoon of shopping and socializing in support of a great cause. While adults shop for bargains and hidden treasures, children can shop at the special "Dime Table" with small items priced especially for tiny shoppers. Children can also get crafty at the kids' craft table and do a project designed by FPNS staff. Children and adults alike can enjoy snacks and drinks while chatting with friends old and new. Current members of FPNS will be on-hand to provide information about the school and its programs. Shoppers will also have the opportunity to make monetary donations to the school even if they don't wish to purchase anything.

FPNS will be accepting donated items from the public for Dollars and Dimes Mondays through Thursdays, September 20th through September 30th, from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the school (4200 Alder Ave. Fremont, CA). Donations are tax-deductible to the limits of the law. FPNS would like your gently used clothing (baby, children's, and adult), baby and children's gear, toys, books, DVDs, hand-held electronics, and small household items. Donated items must be clean, fully functional, and contain all parts. No car seats, underwear, large electronics, or large appliances will be accepted.

Founded and in continuous operation in Fremont since 1961, FPNS is currently enrolling students in all three of its preschool programs available to children aged 2 to pre-kindergarten. For more information about Dollars and Dimes or FPNS visit or call (510) 793-8531.
