Police seek attempted murder suspect

By Meenu Gupta

Nearly one month after a Hayward resident was assaulted in Union City, Police still seek an outstanding suspect wanted in connection with the attempted murder. The victim who suffered multiple blunt trauma wounds to his head is still struggling for his life. Suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 20-years-old, with dark hair. Detective Steve Cesaretti found the victim at the Intensive Care Unit in St. Rose Hospital in Hayward.

The suspect assaulted the victim on Mission Boulevard near F Street and fled to a residence on the 33500 block of 2nd Street in Union City. The victim followed the suspect to that residence where three more suspects struck the victim multiple times in the head with a blunt object. According to Lt. Kelly Musgrove, Union City PD Police served a search warrant at the home where the crime occurred and arrested a father and son. 46-year-old Jeffrey Montoya Sr. and 23-year-old Jeffrey Montoya Jr. were arrested and charged with attempted murder. Anyone with information on the third suspect or this incident should call (510) 675-5207 or write to tips@unioncity.org.
