Obituary: Robert L. Pennock, Jr.

Fremont, California, - Robert L. (Bob) Pennock passed away peacefully on August 31, 2010 in Fremont, California, surrounded by friends and family. He was 88 years old. After serving in the Army's 271st Engineer Cn Bn, he pursued his engineering education at Carnegie Tech and the University of Denver, eventually serving as Vice President and General Manager of the Honeywell Photo Products (Pentax Camera) Division and later, Chief Executive Officer of Mile High United Way, both in Denver. He also held various executive leadership positions in the non-profit sector, including Seniors! Inc. where he "shared his life experiences and wisdom with others so that they may become more effective and compassionate leaders of the community." He was active in Denver area executive associations and served on several Boards, including 19 years with United Banks of Littleton and Arapahoe in Denver. In "retirement" he was a marketing and business consultant and served as a volunteer counselor for SCORE/SBA.
Bob and Ernestine were married 56 years and moved from Denver to Sun City Lincoln, CA in 2001, and to Fremont in 2008. He is survived by Ernestine and their two daughters and their husbands: Janet and Ronald Goodman of Fremont, CA, and Debra and Daniel Dowis of Miami, FL., and two grandchildren, Kaitlin and Jacob Dowis also of Miami.
A celebration of life is planned for 5:00 p.m. at Merrill Gardens (2860 Country Drive, Fremont) on Tuesday September 7th.
A memorial service will take place in October at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
