The "dog days" of summer may have been named for a canine constellation, but in Niles, it is a time to honor horsepower and automobiles, the Hot August Niles Car Show! On Saturday, August 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Niles Merchants Association will host a fun-filled day complete with raffles, entertainment, and of course... cars.

Held every year on the third Saturday of August, this year's show promises to be even bigger and better than ever. Three hundred fifty to four hundred cars are expected to be on display. Although known for classic automobiles like early model Fords and Chevys, cars of all shapes, sizes, and ages will be on display along Niles Boulevard for all to see.

Marie Dear of the Niles Merchants Association, says, "[It will be] a fun-filled family day...and all proceeds will help fund the Festival of Lights Parade (Niles's annual Holiday parade following Thanksgiving)."

In addition to a truck and car display, the event will include a 50/50 raffle, live entertainment featuring "oldies" music by The Classified Band and plenty of shopping opportunities in downtown Niles. Fremont Ford and Mazda will display six new models for inspection and hold a raffle of oil change and custom detailing certificates.

Hot August Niles extends along Niles Boulevard and is free to the public. For more information, call the Niles Merchants Association at (510) 792-8023 or visit their website at www.nilesmerchants.com.
