DUI suspect hits Police vehicle during chase

Police arrested a man after a drag race along Mission Boulevard near Mowry Avenue. The suspect's vehicle, a black Ford Thunderbird collided in the area of Mission Boulevard and King Avenue, hit a light pole and fled southbound Mission. Police chased the vehicle on Stevenson Boulevard as it turned left into the business complex on the east side of Mission Boulevard.
As the Cops pulled in behind the vehicle the suspect put the car in reverse and rammed the police car twice. "The driver attempted to push the Officer's vehicle back. He drove forward and then into reverse again," said Sgt. Chris Mazzone, Fremont PD. "The suspect then drove south through the parking lot and ended up disabled on top of a cement planter box." 24-year-old Eric Gentry was arrested for assault and DUI. The 24-year-old passenger, Benjamin Schermerhorn was arrested for public intoxication. |
