August 13, 2010 > Newark Fire takes third at San Ramon tourney Newark Fire takes third at San Ramon tourney Submitted By Franz Bruckner Newark Fire, an under-10 girls soccer club, took third place at the San Ramon Valley Cup Tournament over the weekend of Friday, July 30, through Sunday, Aug. 1. Newark defeated San Ramon Azuri in their final match, 3-0, with two goals from Hannah Gamez and one goal by Nevaeh Arroyo-Stansberry. Hinojosa and Gamez also had assists during the game. In defense, Samantha Oceguerda and Isabella Garcia played outstanding, while Dezeray Grisso and Fayth Hinojosa also played very well. Gabriela Motta collected the shutout in goal for the Fire. For the weekend, Newark scored a total of nine goals in four games. Other players performing well for Newark included Lissette Mason, Sara Buffey, Kailey Alcosiba and Rachel Bruckner.
