Barracudas face Dolphins in final dual meet
Submitted By Melissa Ng
On July 24, the Treeview Dolphins welcomed the Mission Valley Barracudas to the Treeview Swim Club for the final East Bay Swim League dual meet of the season.
At this meet, several swimmers improved their swimming times. The following are the swimmers who bettered their time by more than five seconds. On the Barracudas, Dylan Kohn improved his breaststroke by over six seconds; Tiffany Wong took more than five seconds off her butterfly; and Mayuri Jayaraman and Adam Hancock took over six seconds each from their individual medley, which consists of one lap of each stroke. Congratulations.
This meet was memorable because of the fact that the parents who timed the swimmers and the parents who recorded the times had to jump back and forth to accommodate the depth of the pool. The kids 10 years old and under had to start at the deep end of the pool and swim to the shallow end, while the older swimmers started at the deep and ended at the deep end.
Several swimmers are leaving our team this year, and we want to not only thank them, but also their parents, who came to swim meets and completed what jobs they had to do. They were very helpful. On the Mission Valley swim team, thanks to Mike and Kris Imhof, the parents of Hannah Imhof; Henri and Lori Ocon, the parents of Tyler Ocon; Tina and Peter Scobel, the parents of Hannah Scobel; and Rex and Mary Tanakit, the parents of Ryan Tanakit.
At the end of the meet, the Barracudas had won 647 points to 384. As Mission Valley left for home, the Dolphins called after them, "See you next week at Championships!" The Barracudas thank the Treeview Dolphins for being such great hosts.
