Hit and Run at Warm Springs Boulevard
Following a hit and run at Warm Springs and Brown Road, Milpitas Police chased a parolee at large on Tuesday, July 20. The parolee was seen getting into a vehicle and traveling north on Warm Springs Boulevard. Police followed the suspect and located the vehicle abandoned after it had crashed into a barrier. Fremont Police assisted in the pursuit. A perimeter was set and a K9 search was conducted. Santa Clara County Helicopter also assisted but the parolee is still at large.
Gunshots in Niles Canyon
Officers responded to Niles Canyon upon hearing shots fired. CHP and East Bay Regional Parks Police also responded to assist. Upon arrival, officers attempted to detain four individuals in the area of the railroad tunnel. The subjects attempted to flee into the tunnel and a shot rang out. Officers did not know if they were being fired upon but later determined that one of the fleeing subjects had accidentally shot himself in the knee. The subjects, three adults and one juvenile, stated they were target shooting. The injured party was treated at the scene by Fremont Fire Department and paramedics, and was transported to the hospital. All four were arrested and later released.
A suspicious person with a flashlight was looking into vehicles. On hearing a car alarm a resident called the Police. Officers responded and when they arrived, the suspect was running from the area. Officers chased the suspect who was subsequently arrested at Countrywood Apartments near Contra Costa and Glen. The 22-year-old male was charged with resisting arrest and arrested on charges of four prior auto-burglaries.
