RecruitMilitary, a military-to-civilian recruiting firm based in Cincinnati, will present a civilian employment, entrepreneurship and education Opportunity Expo for job seekers, who have military backgrounds, in Oakland from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 29 at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, home of the Oakland Athletics and the Oakland Raiders.

Veterans who already have civilian work experience, men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves, military spouses and other military family members are invited. Attendance will be free for the job seekers.

More than 25 employers, franchisors and educational institutions are expected to exhibit at the Expo. Already signed up are the American Poolplayers Association, Argosy University, the California Department of Veterans Affairs, Capella University, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Coca-Cola, Colors on Parade, DeVry University, DRI Companies, Heald College, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Military Sealift Command, the National Personal Training Institute, the National Veterans Employment Program (NVEP) of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, the San Francisco Police Department, The Art Institutes, United States Customs and Border Protection and the Veterans Business Outreach Center.

RecruitMilitary ( will produce the Expo in cooperation with The American Legion, Purple Heart Services and the Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN).

The American Legion ( is an association of veterans who served during times of war. The Legion has 2.7 million members in nearly 15,000 posts throughout the world. Congress chartered the association in 1919.

Purple Heart Services ( provides programs and services to meet the needs of the combat-wounded and their families - including Purple Heart Radio, an online school called Veterans Vocational Technical Institute (VetTech), Purple Heart Call Center, and Purple Heart Tech Support. Purple Heart Services is a division of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation.

The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network ( was founded in 2004 to provide career opportunities and job portability for military spouses. The organization comprises military spouses, caregivers to war wounded and retired military personnel.
