Alumni Dawn Monique Williams of Oakland returns to campus to adapt and direct Shakespeare's "The Tempest." The show will be performed on the Hayward campus, July 23-25, and then travel to Scotland to perform for two weeks at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival-the world's largest performing arts festival comprised entirely of independently produced shows.
The cast will include students Sheila Christine Bostic, Jan L. Brown, Chalia Chambin Ayers-LaTour, Cheryle Marie Honerlah, Joseph H. Loper, Jennifer Marie Montes, Roger Alan Robinson Jr., Sara Prince, Sarah Dolores Vincent, and Kunpeng Wang, with alumni Mary Ann Mackey and Nancy Ellen Hird. Ayers-LaTour will also design the costumes.
"The Tempest" asks what a new world teaches us, where one woman holds the powers of advancement, liberty, redemption, and love.
