On the morning of Saturday July 10, the Mission Valley Barracudas faced the Warm Springs Gators for the fifth dual swim meet of the season. Following the team cheers, the meet started promptly at 8 a.m.

Several Barracuda team records were beaten by the following swimmers that day: Jasper Wu (8-and-under Free), Sarah-Grace Wu (9-10 Fly), Juliana McCuaig (13-14 Fly), Jesse Wheeler (13-14 Back) and Jessica Tu (15-18 Breast). Congrats especially to Carolyn Thomas (8-and-under), who broke two team records for the 25M Freestyle and Breast stroke.

Congratulations also to the swimmers who took more than ten seconds off their personal best times. Hayden Crane took more than eighteen seconds off his Freestyle and twelve Backstroke, Yaelle Kretchmer improved by more than fourteen seconds on her Backstroke, Sarah Chang improved by over eleven seconds on her Individual Medley, and Gregory Thein improved by over seventeen seconds from his Individual Medley.

The final meet score; the Barracudas won 695 to 341 points. Next week the Barracudas will welcome the Highlands Sharks in a meet at the Mission Valley Swim Club.

The meet was a blast for all that attended, even Nacho Ferret (the lack luster wrestler) made an appearance. The Barracudas had a pirate-themed meet and many of their team were dressed in pirate gear. Even The Barracudas Coach Joe was in the spirit, by mistake he had on an eye patch over his good eye.

The Gators spirit theme was to dress/act as twins with a teammate. Even through all of this fun there was a swim meet going on, by the end of the meet the Gators Chomp walked the plank giving up the victory to the Barracudas. The Gators would like to thank the Mission Valley Barracudas for putting on such a wonderful meet and for not having too many swimmers to finish the meet in a reasonable amount of time.

Special thanks goes out to The Barracuda coaches Don French (Ferret), Joe Martinez and Alex Schmeel plus the Gator coaches Erin Garcia, Victor Seeley and Kelsey St. Marie (stinky). Finally a very gracious thanks to all the parents that help to make these weekly swim meets such a huge success, all the swimmers truly appreciate it.
