A special Farewell Typewriter show

By Mona Shah

"Farewell Typewriter" is Grant Shellen (vocals, guitar), Jason Countryman (bass, vocals), Audie Roldan (guitar, keyboards, percussion), and Steve Slater (drums, vocals). Together they have rocked many of the great indie stages and clubs.

Now that they have finished recording their second record, the as-yet-untitled "Farewell Typewriter LP 1," the quartet is getting back into the swing of live shows. This one is a must-see: playing at Mission Coffees in Fremont, where Grant Shellen (vocals, guitar) got his first summer job many years ago.

Farewell Typewriter will be playing special arrangements of their tunes; mostly an acoustic set with some special instrumentation. They will play tunes from their upcoming record, their first EP, "Selfish," in its entirety, and a handful of covers. Jason Countryman (bass, vocals), and Shellen will each do special solos and duo performances. They plan to wear tuxedos the whole time (provided they can find some free one's by then); if not, the audience will see them in pajama jeans and muscle shirts.
