Robbery On Thursday, June 24, three black male suspects robbed two adults (brother and sister) of their marijuana at gun point in the area of Bel Estos Court.
Assault On Friday night, June 25, officers were sent to investigate an Assault with a Deadly Weapon at Menconi's Bar. An argument over the use of the pool table escalated when a suspect struck the victim over the head with a beer bottle. The suspect fled but was later spotted by officers in the Union Landing Parking lot area and arrested.
Non-injury collision Also on Friday night, a single vehicle non-injury collision with a light pole occurred in the area of Decoto Road and Perry Road causing a power outage of the immediate neighborhood.
Car-train collision On Monday, June 28 a driver tried to beat the train at the rail crossing on H Street at Railroad Avenue. She panicked and abandoned the vehicle on the railroad tracks when the crossing arms came down upon her vehicle. The train struck the vehicle causing moderate damage. There were no injuries.
Suspect arrested for possession of drugs On Saturday, June 26, an Officer conducted a pedestrian stop of a suspicious person in the area of Dyer Street and San Pablo Court. The suspect was arrested when he attempted to dispose of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Probation violation On Tuesday night, June 29, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the Wal-Mart parking lot and found the driver and passenger to be on Felony probation. During a search of their person the driver was found to be in possession of Pepper Spray and the passenger in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested.
Fire at Police Department Union City Fire responded to the Police Department on Saturday, June 26 to extinguish an electrical fire that started in a light fixture in the report writing area. An officer extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher prior to the Fire Department's arrival.
Bomb Threat On Monday, June 28, a Bomb Threat was reported at the Extended Stay America Hotel. The hotel manager called the department to report the threat and then evacuated the tenants. A bomb-trained K-9 from BART PD conducted a search of the property but nothing was located.
Suspicious activity A suspicious person was spotted casing residences. When an officer attempted to stop the suspect to investigate, he fled. The officer gave chase and had to subdue the suspect. Minor injuries were sustained by the officer, but he has returned to full duty.
Shooting Kaiser Hospital staff from the Hayward facility called to report that a male was being treated for a gunshot wound to his back. Officers responded to investigate. They learned there were two victims but the second victim did not seek treatment; his wound was minor. Both victims told the officers they were in Contempo Park when unknown suspect(s) shot them from an unknown direction. Both victims will recover.
Drive-by Shooting Officers responded to Perry Road on Monday, June 28 regarding a just-occurred drive-by shooting into an unoccupied vehicle parked in front of that residence. The vehicle had multiple gunshot holes. Detectives are following up on leads.
Burglary On Tuesday night, June 29, officers responded to a reported burglary in progress in a laundry room on Mission Boulevard. The reporting party advised there were two suspects. Officers located the suspects. A loaded semiautomatic handgun with a suppression attachment on the muzzle was located next to one of the suspects. Both suspects were arrested. |
