MSJLL Senior All-Stars prevail

Mission San Jose Little League's Senior All-Star team faced their rivals from Warm Springs Little League on Monday, June 28, in the initial game for both squads. MSJLL team rode the strong pitching performance of Chris Gaines (13 strike outs in 5 innings) as they downed WSLL 13-1.
After walking two batters in the opening inning, Gaines was in total control as he allowed only one hit and a single run. The contest opened quietly as Gaines and WSLL starter Chris McIntyre both tossed three shutout innings and both appeared to be in total control.
But MSJLL blew the game open in the fourth inning as they parlayed three key hits from Patrick Yang, Jeff Chu and Gaines along with six bases on balls and aggressive base running to plate eight runs. Gaines' blow was the key hit of the inning as he lashed a two-out double to drive in the final two runs of the frame. MSJLL continued their scoring binge in the next inning as they added five runs behind hits by Yang, Chu, Sammy Brown and Logan Graves.
MSJLL's Senior All-Stars next play Niles-Centerville Little League on Tuesday, July 6, to determine which team moves onto the winners' bracket finals. |
