Residential Burglaries:

Thursday, June 17: Officers investigated an attempted residential burglary on Alvarado Boulevard. Two juvenile suspects rang the residence's doorbell. The homeowner chose not to answer the door and later saw the suspects enter the rear yard. The homeowner called the police. Patrol units and members of the COPPS units responded to this call and apprehended the suspects.

Tuesday, June 22: An officer spotted three juveniles jumping a wall from the rear of a residence in the area of Courthouse Place as a call of a residential burglary was being received for this same location. Officer responded to the area and captured one of the suspects who still had stolen merchandise on his person. The other two evaded capture.

Tuesday, June 22: A resident on San Bruno Court called to report a suspicious person at her door asking to look into their backyard. The person fled when notified that the police were called. Officers located a loaded stolen handgun, a mask and gloves.

DUI collision:

Thursday, June 17: Officers investigated a DUI collision involving three vehicles and an AC Transit bus on Dyer Street at Alvarado Boulevard. The suspect was arrested.

Shotgun recovered:

Detectives and members of the COPPS unit conducted a probation search on Thursday, June 17, of a residence on Polaris Avenue. During the search, a hidden, modified sawed-off shotgun was recovered. The shotgun went off due to the modifications causing one of the detectives to receive lacerations from the blast. He received medical aid and returned to duty.


On Friday night, June 18, officers were sent to investigate a report of a just-occurred shooting in the area of Agena Drive. The reporting party advised they were chasing the suspects onto N/B I-880. Officers responded and made a High Risk stop of the vehicle on the freeway. The four occupants were detained, but no firearms were located. The story changed drastically and this incident was determined to be a disturbance only.

Also on Friday evening, officers were sent to investigate a loud disturbance on Santa Isabella Court. Upon arrival, they found several family members holding down a very agitated and intoxicated suspect. The suspect attempted to spit on officers and physically resist when being placed under arrest. The suspect had to be placed into the "WRAP" restraint device due to his combative nature in order to safely transport him to Santa Rita Jail.

Armed Robbery:

On Monday night, June 21, officers investigated an armed robbery at the Starbucks on Alvarado Boulevard. A lone suspect wearing a mask entered the business armed with a handgun and robbed the business.

On Wednesday night, June 23, an officer investigated an armed robbery at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Two suspects armed with handguns accosted a couple in the parking lot as they were walking to their vehicle. The suspects fled in a waiting vehicle driven by a third suspect.

Child molestation:

Wednesday, June 23: A 15-year-old was watching a movie at Century 25 theaters with family. An adult suspect began to touch her arm inappropriately and was subsequently arrested for annoying and molesting a child.

Drug Enforcement arrests suspects:

Sunday, June 20: Drug Enforcement Administration personnel had three suspects under arrest. As a result, a search warrant was served on an Arizona Street residence.

Victim succumbs to injuries:

Washington Hospital called UCPD Sunday, June 20 to report that a patient with severe head and facial injuries was being admitted. The victim is a mentally-handicapped individual residing in a care home in Union City. Detectives responded to investigate. The victim succumbed to his injuries Wednesday night and passed away. This case is under active investigation.
