Suspect arrested in daytime armed robbery

Jayne Galvez, age 33, of Fremont is currently in custody at Santa Rita Jail as a suspect in a daytime armed robbery. The incident occurred on June 13 at 10:31 a.m. in the parking lot of Ranch 99 Supermarket in the Lido Faire Shopping Center. A 31-year-old victim was pushing her 3-year-old daughter in a shopping cart in the parking lot when she was accosted by a female robbery suspect who produced a black handgun and demanded the victim's wallet and cash. The victim complied with the suspect's demands out of her fear for her daughter's safety. The suspect ran from the scene on foot leaving the victim and her daughter unharmed. The Victim immediately dialed 9-1-1 to report the robbery.

Responding Officers arrived at the scene moments after the robbery occurred and were able to apprehend the suspect as she was leaving the Shopping Center parking lot. The suspect was positively identified by the victim. The victim's cash and a replica of a 9mm handgun were also recovered from inside the suspect's purse.
