Spring sports wrap-up

Golf The first Moreau Catholic High School golfer to compete at the state tournament did his school proud by finishing in sixth place (a six-way tie) and medaling (the top six finishers are awarded medals).
Carlos Briones shot an even-par 72 at the California Interscholastic Federation state tournament at Santa Maria Country Club on Tuesday, June 8. The future looks bright indeed for Briones; Moreau's greatest golfer ever is just a sophomore.
The individual winner of the event was Patrick Cantlay of Servite-Anaheim. Santa Barbara won the team title.
Briones was named to the All-Hayward Area Athletic League team, along with his teammates Jose Montes, Kevin Murray and Blake Ramos.
Tennis The All-HAAL selections were released last week. League champion Derek Lee of Moreau was one of the six singles players honored, and his teammates Errol Tongko and Danny Vieira made the squad as a doubles team. Also honored was Tennyson's doubles team of Aaron Phan and A.C. Hingco.
