Submitted By Jenny Brod
Deborah Grabien will sign her new middle grade novel, Dark's Tale on Sunday, June 20 at Borders, McCarthy Ranch Plaza, Milpitas. Deborah's appearance will also include a short reading of excerpts from the novel.
After Dark is abandoned in Golden Gate Park, she no longer trusts or loves humans. Slowly she learns to rely on her smarts and instincts to find food and shelter and she even makes a few unexpected friends in her new home. As more animals disappear, the natural order of the park is threatened by the coyotes' presence, and Dark is forced into difficult decisions about friendship, loyalty and the meaning of survival. In fact, she might have to trust the one group that hurt her the most: humans.
These days, in between cat rescues and cookery, Deborah Grabien can generally be found listening to music, playing one of eleven guitars, hanging out with her musician friends, or writing fiction. She has lived, worked and travelled throughout Europe, from London to Geneva to Paris to Florence, but San Francisco has always been home. She returned to the city for good in 1981.
