NNLL Rockies shutout Fremont American

Submitted By Mark Alexander

It was a cloudy overcastted day at Fremont's Irvington High School on Thursday, May 27, night, as the Newark National Little League Senior Rockies once again showed Fremont American no mercy, as they used excellent pitching and powerful hitting as proof why they're the team to beat in the District 14 Senior Division this year in a 10-0 romp.

Starting Pitcher Frankie "The Goose" Maldonado kept FALL off balance all night by allowing no runs on one hit and five strikeouts and no errors in five strong innings.

Rockies offensive machine was led by Brady Moore, as he drove the ball hard and deep all night long with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Kyle Dubeck, for the second week in a row, was once again a big factor at the plate and on the bases, doubling to left field, stealing a base, knocking in a run and scoring two runs. TJ Lopez had an incredible 325-foot triple that would have been a homerun if there was a fence, and he also scored a run and had an RBI. Cesar Landeros had some fun of his own with an RBI single and a stolen base. Francisco Martinez came out of a two-game slump by pounding an RBI single, stealing a base, and scoring a run; and Ruben Sanchez had his first RBI of the season.

Game balls go out to Maldonado for his outstanding pitching performance and Sanchez for his outstanding effort and first RBI.

Next game for the Rockies is a 5:30 p.m. first pitch on Tuesday, June 1, against Mission San Jose Little League at Newark Jr. High School, the home field of Newark Ameican Little League. NNLL Rockies close out the week against the Niles-Centerville Little League Senior Red Sox on Saturday, June 5, at 4 p.m.
