Rogers wins Tour of California

Australia's Michael Rogers fended off all attacks to win cycling's Amgen Tour of California, one of the biggest victories in his accomplished career.
Three-time world time trial champion Rogers held on to win the eight-day race, the biggest on American soil, by nine seconds from Americans David Zabriskie (Garmin) with three-time champion Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack) who placed third on Sunday, May 23.
Columbia team leader Rogers, 30, held the leader's yellow jersey since Thursday, May 20, and fended off the efforts of Zabriskie and Leipheimer to finish the final 134.4km stage. |
