Caltrans announces additional I-880 ramp metering in Fremont

Beginning Tuesday, May 25, ramp metering lights will be operational and start cycling from red to green at the Mission Boulevard and Warren Avenue on-ramps to southbound and northbound Interstate 880. The lights have remained green since May 17 so that motorists can adjust to the new driving conditions.

The metering lights will operate in a normal cycle during morning and evening peak commute hours. Metering hours will be Monday through Friday, from 6 to 10 a.m. for southbound 880, and 6 to 9 a.m. for northbound 880.

In the afternoon, metering hours for north and southbound 880 will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Metering these locations will help improve traffic movement further downstream, at Auto Mall Parkway (northbound 880), and at the State Route 237 off-ramp (southbound 880).

During this transition to ramp metering, Caltrans will monitor and make adjustments as necessary. Ramp meters at Dixon Landing Road on-ramps to southbound and northbound 880 will also be adjusted.

Caltrans will maintain a "Ramp Metering Hotline" at (510) 286-4531.
