On the Wings of War
Submitted By Belinda Maloney
In the 1930's and 40's the music was haunting; it was bold. Take a sentimental journey through the music, dance, and magic of our past, and support your local community theatre. "On the Wings of War" is a fundraiser to benefit Stage 1 Theater.
A musical salute, this show will be in a concert style with all 30's and 40's music like "Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree," "Sentimental Journey," "Thanks For The Memories," "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "Get Happy," and many others.
Featured will be some solo performances and dancers on some of the songs dressed in Military uniforms. Call it a blend of the old Lawrence Welk show and the Bob Hope USO tours, gals in sparkling evening gowns and guys in tuxes. This is a tribute to the Veterans and songs from that era, and the Armed Forces Day was chosen as one of the performance dates.
The fundraiser for Stage 1 is dedicated to the memory of Lance Corporal Zachary Tyler Mariluch who passed on recently. He was the son of our Pianist, Stage 1 costumer and friend Lisa Jontz. She is still going to be our accompanist for these performances even though these past few weeks have been very difficult for her.
Canteen refreshments will be available for purchase during intermission. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any cast member.
