Donations Needed for Homeless Children
Did you know that Abode Services provides assistance to more than 200 homeless children annually? There are many ways you can support Abode's Children's Program. To brighten the day of a homeless child, view the Children's Program Wish List at http://www.abodeservices.org/giving_wishlist_children.html.
Items on the Wish List include supplies for arts and crafts projects; party goods and talent for birthday parties; tickets for local attractions; healthy snacks and infant supplies and much more.
Birthdays and other holidays can be particularly difficult for children living in Abode's emergency shelter and supportive housing sites where money and other resources are limited. "Please take the time to remember how important your birthday was when you were little and think about reaching out to a child whose parents can't afford to buy them a present let alone throw them a party," says Case Manager Pamela Nash.
Individuals, service organizations, faith communities and local businesses are invited to "sponsor" monthly birthday parties or donate items on the Wish List.
For further details, contact Mary T. Little, Volunteer Program Manager, at (510) 438-9373.
Abode Services' mission is to end homelessness by assisting low-income, un-housed people to secure stable, supportive housing. For further information about the many services and programs provided by Abode Services, visit www.abodeservices.org.
