A Cabaret Evening with Richard King
Submitted By Nina Moore
Rotarians everywhere know Richard King as the past World President of Rotary International. Many people in Fremont know him as a Bay Area attorney and a Fremont Planning Commissioner. However, he has another life entirely!
Richard King is also a veteran Las Vegas and musical comedy star, who has performed in the leading roles of many musical comedies, including Equity performances in "The Music Man," "Carousel," "Oklahoma," Brigadoon," "Paint Your Wagon," "Finian's Rainbow," "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever," "Guys and Dolls," "No Strings," "Mame," "South Pacific," "No, No Nanette," "Plain and Fancy," and "The Sound of Music." He produced and starred in his own shows in Las Vegas, primarily at the Desert Inn. For ten years, he produced a benefit locally at Chabot College to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation. Local residents have an opportunity to view him in this role when he headlines in a benefit for Fremont Rotary's international projects: Stop Pediatric AIDS Now (SPAN) and Polio Plus. This not-to-be-missed Cabaret Performance, as Fremont Rotary President Bob Shaver says, "I think this is going to be an amazing performance that people will really enjoy!"
Tickets are $70 per person. In addition to Mr. King as headliner, the event will also have special guest performances by the Virtuoso International Flute Ensemble, the Academy of Chinese Performing Arts, and the California Line Dance Association of America. Dinner will be catered by Strizzi's Restaurant and will include a silent auction and raffle.
Mr. King has addressed and performed for audiences in every U.S. state and in over 100 countries around the world. He is a much requested public speaker and has been honored many times by Heads of State for his leadership and humanitarian projects. On May 23rd, Fremont Rotary invites you to let him dazzle and entertain you while supporting two critical humanitarian projects.
