String of robberies hit Tri-Cities

A spate of seven armed robberies started on Thursday, April 29 at 9:45 p.m. when a black male armed with gun demanded the clerk contents of cash register at the Lil Grocer liquor store on Grimmer Boulevard in Fremont's Irvington district. Minutes later a robbery happened at CJ's Liquor on Stevenson Boulevard, according to Detective Bill Veteran, Fremont PD. The suspect tried to rob two more businesses in Newark - 5 Star Liquor located at 35111 Newark Blvd. and Bob's Liquors located on Jarvis Avenue, before coming back to Fremont.

According to Detective Veteran, the suspect hit OO Liquors located at 34460 Fremont Blvd. in Fremont, before going to Union City to strike again. The robber took cash from the register and was seen fleeing in white 90's Cadillac. In some of the cases, there was one gunman, in others there were two, according to Fremont Police. Hayward Police stopped a car that matched the description and arrested the driver at gunpoint while the passenger fled. Fremont Police Department is actively pursuing leads regarding the whereabouts of the passenger.
