Community members and nonprofit organizations from across the Bay Area were able to scoop up free children's books donated by the local community during the Half Price Books Half Pint Library book drive at a special giveaway event on April 24.
This is the 12th year of the Half Pint Library book drive, and the first time Half Price Books partnered with the East Bay Children's Book Project for this type of giveaway. The book giveaway also marked the fifth anniversary of the East Bay Children's Book Project, which works year-round to get books into the hands of local children in need.
Locally, Fremont brought in more than 4,000 books from the community to be donated. The Project celebrated by having live entertainment, food and an open house while hundreds of excited community members filled their tote bags. |
