Carolyn Lord's paintings are a record and expression of her world. Guests will benefit from Lord's presentation on watercolor and discussion on composition in a free class presented at the Fremont Art Gallery.

Lord will bring some work-in-progress, as well as some completed work for show-n-tell. This presentation by an award-winning artist is on Wednesday, May 5. Light refreshments will be served at the presentation.

A "Plein Air" artist by training, the places Lord has painted include Brazil, Italy and the Virgin Islands; Nevada, Utah and Oregon: Carmel, Gualala and home in Livermore. Her greatest body of work is of her area; the landscape, architecture, gardens, portraits and still-lives.

"My paintings can be subtle, direct or whimsical, of what ever I feel is important to share. Usually it's a record of visual beauty, sometimes I hint at ideas and concepts that are revealed in the painting or in the title." Lord's watercolors are recognizable with their varied compositions, color, light and dark contrast.

Her paintings are currently exhibited at the Nancy Dodds Gallery, Carmel; Fairmont Gallery, Sonoma; Knowlton Gallery, Lodi; Bingham Gallery, Mt. Carmel. UT.
