Twirling for the nation

Melissa Brandle, a sophomore at Mission San Jose High School, was selected to the 2010 U.S. World Team (Team USA) for baton twirling on March 27 at the U.S. Trials competition near Nashville, Tenn.
In fact, Brandle was a double-gold medalist and the only female athlete to win more than a single gold medal. Her golds were for Junior Pairs (with her partner Jamie Hogan of ArchBishop Mitty High School) and Team with her Encore Baton Club.
Melissa will compete for the USA in those two events at the World Baton Twirling Championships in Bergen, Norway, in early August. Only a single Junior Pair and Team entry per country is eligible for competition at Worlds. Brandle's family and friends are extremely proud of her accomplishments after hours of hard work and travel time. |
