"The French Quarter" Cafe Concert
Submitted By Bryan Holbrook
For the past 6 years, the Hayward High Music program has been raising funds for its own survival. This program does not receive funds from the district except for instrument repair; all other aspects of the program must be funded by the students, parents and local community. There was a desperate need to figure out a way to raise funds to stay afloat.
Cafe Concerts have a theme to help create a wonderful atmosphere instead of the usual cafeteria setting. In the past we've had Cafe Happy Days, a 1950's theme; Cafe Matinee with a movie flare, Cafe Ole- a Latin/Spanish festive atmosphere, Cafe Reggae-a fun and relaxed setting with all the fun. This year's theme is "The French Quarter."
The Cafe Concert is an opportunity for students of the music program to perform in a different setting than the normal concert venue or at a football game or festival. They perform on their primary or secondary instruments, sing, dance or both. The talent is amazing. We raise funds from ticket sales, silent auctions and raffles.
Extreme budget cuts threaten the survival of our music programs. The PRIDE of Hayward High Music Program is one of the most popular programs on campus and is widely supported by the entire school and city community. Come and hear some great music from our students, have some food/beverages and bid on some great auction packages.
We will accept Personal Check, Cash and Credit Cards (MasterCard & VISA only) for payment of Admission, Raffle Tickets, FAME Membership, Silent Auctions and donations.
