Police seek help in finding weapons

On Tuesday, March 30 at 3:30 p.m., the Southern Alameda County Gang Violence Suppression team pursued a stolen black Dodge SUV on 5th Street near C Street. There were four males inside the vehicle, who threw a shotgun and a handgun out of the vehicle and into the street. The two guns were picked up by unknown persons prior to additional officers arriving to recover the guns. Officers arrested three of the vehicle occupants after following them out of the area.
The Union City Police Department requests assistance in locating and removing these dangerous weapons from the community. A search for the suspects involved multiple police agencies from Hayward, Fremont, and East Bay Regional Parks Police Departments. Union City Police Department had assistance with the search which included a yard-to-yard sweep using of two canine teams and a helicopter. Efforts of the officers, who were assisted by community members, resulted in the arrest of three adults and one juvenile.
