Presentations and Proclamations
Music Director David Sloss and General Manager Susan Rose broadcasted the new documentary DVD about Children's Concerts presented by Fremont Symphony Orchestra.

Presentation by the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency and the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority of the proposed merger of the two agencies to form the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC) for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Public Hearings
Approve a conditional use permit and a planned unit development to conduct bingo games at Silliman Center, 6800 Mowry Ave., Newark.

Consent
Awarded the contract to Kel-Tec Builders, Inc., for Jerry Raber Ash Street Park roof replacement (37365 Ash Street) for $33,947.50.

Applied for Jobs for Main Street Act 2010 funding, estimated at $1,525,000, for Newark 2010 Pavement Overlay project on segments of Cedar Blvd., Haley St., Jarvis Ave. and Spruce St.

Approved removal of second dwelling units as a conditional use.

Revised Personnel Rules and Regulations to allow former employees, laid off within the last 24 months, to participate in promotional examinations.

Limited the conversion of accrued general leave to sick leave for confidential and management employees.

Redevelopment Agency
Approved a joint public hearing for June 24, 2010 of Newark City Council and Newark Redevelopment Agency for proposed redevelopment for the Newark Redevelopment Project Area No. 2 and the project's Environmental Impact Report (EIR).

Approved the property-owner participation rules and relocation guidelines for the proposed Redevelopment Plan for the Newark Redevelopment Project Area No. 2.

Council Matters
Approved the reappointments of Mel Nunes, Carol Hewitt and Deanna Martinez to the Senior Citizen Standing Advisory Committee to two-year terms expiring on April 14, 2012.

Oral Communications
Newark residents thanked Mayor David Smith and City Manager John Becker for working with them to arrive at an equitable solution on maintaining Newark's parks.
