BCL baseball lacking competition

When the Fremont Christian High School and California School for the Deaf baseball teams from the Bay Counties League (BCL) play their games this year, both teams would like to find more competitive opposition.
Earlier in the year, CSD defeated BCL rival St. Elizabeth High School of Oakland 14-0 and 14-2 in a home-and-home series. Then last week, the Eagles clobbered Leadership Richmond High School, 20-2.
Leading CSD in the onslaught of Leadership were Zac Kohler (two 2B, 5 RBIs) and Carlos Lopez (2B, 3 RBIs).
Fremont Christian beat Leadership High School of Hayward, 11-0; Valley Christian High School of Dublin, 13-3; and Urban High School of San Francisco, 9-3, before losing to Mission San Jose High School, 13-3.
After the two wins over CSD, the Warriors were defeated on Friday, March 19, by Head-Royce High School, 21-2.
Fremont Christian and CSD also met for a home-and-home series, dominated by the Warriors, who beat CSD by a combined 37 runs - 28-1 and 10-0 - in the contests.
Leading the Warriors' attack in the first game were freshman Isaac Liston (4-5, 2B, 3 1B, BB) and senior Donald Anderson (4-4, 3 2B, 1B, BB).
CSD is now 2-2 in the BCL, 3-2 overall. Next games are home and home this week against BCL foe Emery High School on Thursday, March 25, at 3:30 p.m. On Tuesday, March 30, at 4 p.m. the Eagles are at home against Leadership Griffin High School of San Francisco.
For the Warriors (2-0 BCL, 5-2 overall), they play St. Elizabeth at home, on March 25 at 3 p.m. and then host Bentley High School of Lafayette Friday, March 26, at 4 p.m.
Other high school baseball action last week saw Milpitas High School defeat Gunn High School, 4-0, on the road before winning at home over Santa Clara High School, 14-3. Trojans are now 4-0 in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League play, 4-4 overall.
Hayward Area Athletic League play had Hayward High School defeating Castro Valley High School, 3-2, before losing to San Lorenzo High School, 9-8; Mt. Eden High School lost to Arroyo High School, 7-3, and defeated Moreau Catholic High School, 8-3; Moreau Catholic also lost to Bishop O'Dowd High School, 12-2; and Tennyson High School lost to both San Leandro High School, 4-1, and to Castro Valley, 15-0.
In the Mission Valley Athletic League, Washington High School defeated Freedom High School, 5-4, before losing back-to-back games to San Ramon Valley and Amador Valley high schools, 12-0 and 12-3 respectively.
American High School participated in the preseason Dougherty Valley Classic in San Ramon. They lost to Marin Academy, 2-0; won against Harker, 11-8, and Liberty high schools, 6-1; and were defeated by Analy High School, 5-1.
Irvington High School opened the week with losses to Foothill, 9-3, and Analy, 5-4, before defeating Harker, 2-0, at the Dougherty Valley Classic.
John F. Kennedy High School won two straight against San Lorenzo, 6-0, and Richmond High School, 8-4, before losing to Concord High School, 12-4.
James Logan High School dominated Pacific Grove High School, 16-0, on Saturday, March 20, while MSJ lost to Valley Christian of Dublin, 3-2, and Granada High School, 8-5.
Newark Memorial High School lost all three of its games played last week: Foothill High School, 6-5; Alameda High School, 13-0; and Burlingame High School, 13-3.
