On Saturday, March 6 at about 6:01 p.m., Milpitas Police Officer Reuben Lopez was on bicycle patrol in the parking lot of the Great Mall located at 1100 Great Mall Drive when he noticed four subjects smoking marijuana. Officer Lopez detained the four subjects to conduct an investigation, and one of the subjects discarded a gun.
After further investigation, it was determined the pistol was in the possession of a 16 year-old male San Jose resident, who was booked into Juvenile Hall. The gun was a .25 caliber semiautomatic pistol and was fully loaded. Two other suspects were identified as a 17-year-old male from San Jose and a 15-year-old male from Milpitas; they were cited and released for possession of marijuana. The remaining suspect was identified as Devaughn Antonio Williams, an 18 year-old male, resident from San Jose. Williams was cited for possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
