Youth speak out at Rotary contest

Milpitas Rotary Club hosted the March 1 Area 5 Speech Contest at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Milpitas.
In Rotary's Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest, three worthy student contestants tackled the theme "The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands." Third place was awarded $50, second place, $100 and first place earned $200 and the opportunity to compete in one of two regional events, either on March 23 at Los Gatos Lodge or on March 26 at the HP Pavilion, San Jose. Each regional event carries a winning purse of $250. Megan Gage will attend the March 26 contest.
A District Contest follows for the two regional winners on April 7 at the San Jose Doubletree Hotel. All Club winners are invited to attend.
Rotarians meet every Monday at 12.15 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Milpitas. The club focuses on fund-raising activities and community service projects for youth-oriented programs in the community and abroad. Fighting polio is a mission of Milpitas Rotary.
