Presentations and Proclamations:

Firefighters Charlie Verhoeven and Ernie Morua recently promoted to Fire Captain.

William Lichtenberger, William Tyrell and Maurice Baker retired from Newark Fire Department.

March 2010 proclaimed as American Red Cross Month.

Joseph Ortiz, Project Manager, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, gave a presentation regarding the upcoming Bay Division Pipeline No. 5 Project in Newark and Fremont.

Public Hearings:
Approved Housing Element update and the changes made in response to comments by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.

City Manager Reports:
Initiated 2010 Weed Abatement program. A public hearing will be held on April 8, 2010.

Approved the extension of promotional eligible lists to a maximum of two years. The City of Newark's Personnel Rules and Regulations govern the duration of employment eligible lists.

Approved support of the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety, and Transportation Protection Act of 2010, to prevent state politicians from shifting, borrowing, or otherwise taking or interfering with tax revenues dedicated to funding local government services (i.e., local sales tax, property tax, redevelopment), or dedicated to transportation improvement projects and mass transit.

Approved a five-year agreement between the City of Newark and Alameda County Fire Department to provide fire and emergency response services.
