Officer Involved Shooting

On Sunday, February 14 at 11:40 a.m. Fremont Police Officers responded to a family disturbance at 3589 Norfolk Rd. En route, officers learned that a 52 year old male had been drinking and was involved in argument with his wife. Officers also learned that he was armed with a handgun.
Upon arrival, a team of officers engaged the male in front of the garage as another team evacuated his wife and ten year old daughter from the rear of the residence. Officers were able to briefly negotiate with subject before he raised the handgun in the direction of the officers. Four Officers discharged their weapons, killing the subject. No one else was hurt.
All four of the officers involved are veterans of the department and have been placed on routine, paid administrative leave. A parallel investigation into the shooting will be conducted by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. |
