Rotary Club celebrates Year of the Tiger
Submitted By Lee Denlinger
The traditional Lion Dance will begin festivities at the 5th Annual Chinese New Year Celebration Banquet on Sunday, February 28 at the Mayflower Restaurant in Union City.
This annual event, sponsored by the Fremont-Union City-Newark (F.U.N.) Sunset Rotary Club, raises money for local non-profit agencies and international club projects.
This year's beneficiaries are Centro de Servicios, a Union City-based agency that has served the Tri-Cities since 1974, relief for the victims of Typhoon Morakot in Taiwan, the international club project, and the Rotary Club Foundation.
A ten-course, banquet-style dinner and dessert, with the good-luck red envelope for health and prosperity, and a no host bar are provided. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Entertainment will feature traditional Chinese dance by the Donaghue Dancers, a group from Donaghue Elementary School, Dublin.
Tickets are $60 per person or $550 for a table of 10 persons.
