Mayor Wasserman announced vacancies remain on several commissions and boards including Economic Development Advisory Commission, George W. Patterson House Advisory Board, Environmental Services Advisory Commission, Library Advisory Commission, Senior Citizen Commission. Those interested were advised to consult the city website (www.fremont.gov) or call the City Clerk's office (510) 284-4060.
Purchase of traffic signal communication equipment from Western Systems at a total cost of $62,517. A current contract with Western Systems and the additional request exceeds $100,000 and therefore requires Council approval. These is part of a grant-funded arterial management project funded by the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency (ACCMA) as program manager of the Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA).
Enter an agreement with California Real Estate Receiverships and Bond Safeguard Insurance Company to transfer terms of sale from Villa d'Este project to Pulte Homes as the result of bankruptcy.
Award contract to Star Construction, Inc. for reconstruction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways in the amount of $869,750. Includes Area X (Fremont Blvd., Decoto Rd. and Alameda Co. Flood Control Channel), north of Isherwood Way near Quarry Lakes, midtown area.
Award contract to FBD Vanguard Construction, Inc. in the amount of $303,322 for citywide intersection ramps.
Approve quotations to be used on dedication plaques for Fire Station #11 and Fire Department Training Center. Ambrose Hollingsworth Redmoon quote for Station #11: "Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than one's fear." Training Center quote attributed to Aristotle: "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit."
Approve amendment to Fiscal Agreement between Redevelopment Agency and Alameda County Superintendent of Schools in connection with the proposed amended plan for the Fremont Merged Redevelopment Area.
Authorize Staff to apply for a U.S. Economic Development Administration Planning and Techincal Assistance Grant. All councilmembers were in support and several speakers representing labor, chamber of commerce and BART supported the study of economic opportunities of the NUMMI site. Mayor Wasserman emphasized the importance of the area and termed the site as "The biggest single project" of Fremont.
Councilmember Natarajan asked council support of the Local Taxpayer, Public Safe3ty and Transportation Protection Act 2010 to close loopholes and prevent the State from taking or otherwise interfering with tax revenues dedicated to local government.
