Armed Robbery in Union City

Submitted By Corporal. Steve Mendez

On Saturday, February 6 at about 8:37 a.m. Union City Police received a commercial alarm from the "Cash and Go" store located at 34383 Alvarado Niles Rd. Although the alarm was not a robbery or hold-up, the alarm company advised U.C.P.D. dispatch that they could hear someone inside the business demanding money. A short time later, an employee called police and confirmed that the business had just been robbed.

Officers responded to the business and made contact with the victim who was not injured. The victim stated that two males, wearing dark clothing and masks, pushed their way inside and forced her to turn over money from the business. One of the suspects was armed with a black semi-auto pistol or similar type weapon. The two suspects then fled the area on foot. An extensive search for the two suspects, which included assistance from a Fremont Police K-9 unit, was conducted, however the suspects were not located. The amount of money taken from the business is unknown at this time.

Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact the Union City Police Department at (510) 471-1365. Anonymous information or "Tips" can be left on the Union City Police "Tip Line" at (510) 675-5207 or via e-mail at
