Cargill and Fremont/Newark YMCA team up for Teen Leadership

Submitted By David Hembree

Over the president's day weekend, as many of us will be enjoying a holiday, 16 high school leaders from Fremont will be part of a group of 2500 youth leaders that will "take over "the capital in Sacramento. As part of the YMCA California Youth & Government program, the Fremont delegation will be involved in submitting bills, working the press room, advocating policy change and learning leadership and civic engagement in an environment that provides hands on and high level experience.

"We were so privileged to receive a donation of $2500 from the folks Cargill to send our delegation to this exciting program event," said David Hembree, executive director for the Fremont/Newark YMCA.

"These young people have worked hard getting ready to attend, thanks to Cargill's generosity, they will be able to take their place among the state's youth leaders in Sacramento." said Hembree.

The YMCA California Youth & Government program has been developing tomorrow's leaders today for nearly 60 years.
