Mission Masquerade Ball
By Janet Grant
Creole and Cajun, crawfish and gumbo, bayous and the French Quarter... add that all together with jazz, jazz, jazz and the Palmdale Estates will be overflowing with the spirit of Mardi Gras. On Sunday, February 7, the sights, tastes and sounds of New Orleans comes alive in a very special way as Music at the Mission presents its first annual Mission Masquerade Ball.
This special benefit event will include a gourmet New Orleans-style dinner prepared by Gael Stewart of Mission Coffee Roasting Company and feature Bay Area singer and guitarist Jonny Keigwin. A special appearance by Fremont's own Steve Pietkiewicz on piano and bassist Pat Klobas will enliven the evening. There will also be dancing to New Orleans-style Jazz and Blues with Jack Krouscup on piano and vocals, Bob Scott on drums, and Pat Klobas on bass.
Now in its fifth season, Music at the Mission is a Classical Chamber Music Series dedicated to the cultural vitality of Fremont and the Tri-City Area. Its mission is to provide artistic excellence through the presentation of engaging and exceptional chamber music concerts in one of California's historic sites, Old Mission San Jose; to provide accessibility through outreach programs and educational pre-concert talks; and to help create a support system for young musicians to ensure the development and longevity of classical music.
To continue providing the community with chamber works that are new, different, and engaging, Music at the Mission is hosting the second of its fundraising benefits - Mission Masquerade Ball. Along with fantastic food and music, a silent auction and prizes, Firestone Photography will be on hand to help preserve your memories of this spectacular evening. Black-tie is optional; masks will be provided.
Be sure to mark February 7 on your calendar. Get a head start on Mardi Gras season and celebrate with Music at the Mission at the Mission Masquerade Ball. Food, music, masks, and prizes are waiting for you when the Palmdale Estates Best House welcomes the Big Easy.
