Check the pulse of your community by watching "Milpitas Magazine." This television show is produced and aired on Milpitas Community Television (MCTV) Channel 26.
Ohlone College broadcasting students are working with MCTV to create a news magazine-style television show and broadcast for Milpitas. Students volunteer to cover what's happening in the community.
The show has covered holiday events within the City and a wide variety of topics including: pies for charity, getting cheap gas, making donations, poetry, line dancing, Senior Center activities and local sports.
"The students are building a news magazine that features 95 percent of the Milpitas Community, and the rest on the Bay Area," stated Debra Lax, MCTV Station Manager and member of the Milpitas Magazine team. "We're looking for news stories that highlight our community. Businesses, new businesses opening, events at the library, recreation center, Community Center, City Hall, meetings, activities, whatever's happening... and include that as part of the newscast. MCTV is the best kept secret in Milpitas."
"What we want to do is make sure everyone in the community knows this station is here. It's free. It's under-utilized," she continued.
MCTV is a community television organization allowing residents, staff and volunteers to produce and broadcast public access and educational programming. Media training is available.
