Hayward Police looking for suspect in mall shooting

Hayward Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that took place on Saturday, January 23 around 3 p.m. in front of Kohl's store in the Southland Mall. Police surrounded the mall and closed several nearby streets for about an hour while a thorough search of the mall was conducted.

The suspect is around 18 to 20 years old, a dark skinned Hispanic, 5 foot 11 inches tall, thin build around 170 lbs and was spotted wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and had a handgun, Criminal Investigations Bureau, Lt. Christine Orrey told TCV. HPD will release further information when the investigation is completed. Anyone with information should call the Police Department's investigations bureau at (510) 293-7033.
