Employees of the year 2009

Union City staff members Teresa Garcia, Laurie Radovich, and Steve Mendez were all recognized as 2009 Employees of the Year. Mayor Mark Green presented each honoree with a copy of the proclamation.
Teresa Garcia was praised for her work in General Government. She began her career with the City of Union City as a Program Aid, Leisure Services Department, in January 1994, and was promoted to Administrative Assistant in April 2000. She obtained her certification as a Permit Technician, Building Inspector and Mechanical Inspector, and has continually provided superior customer service.
Corporal Steve Mendez was honored for his work in Public Safety. He has been a member of Union City Police Department since June 24, 1991. He has played a proactive role in working with members of the community in identifying and resolving police related problems. He has received commendations from citizens and from his superiors acknowledging his dedication and service to the community and Union City Police Department.
Laurie Radovich was recognized for her work in Public Works Maintenance, Leisure Services and Transit. She joined the City of Union City as an Office Assistant II in the Public Works Department on May 15, 1995, and was instrumental in starting the Union City Paratransit ADA Eligibility Program. She is the City's representative on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's Paratransit Coordinating Council and is responsible for numerous community outreach efforts for paratransit services in Union City.
