Youth poetry slam at Milpitas Library

Submitted By Don Phillips

Poetry Slam Champion Dan Atwell returns to Milpitas Library to perform and host a Milpitas Library Poetry Slam at 5 p.m., Wednesday, February 3 in the Milpitas Library Auditorium. All poetry fans are welcome to attend. Children and teen poets are invited to compete. Cash prizes will be given to the top three finishers. Refreshments will be served.

A Poetry Slam is poetry as a competitive contest. At a Poetry Slam the poets sign up just before the event so they can read their poems in a dramatic fashion in front of the audience. Audience members, who are chosen as judges, rate the poet on both the quality of the performance and the poetry.

This event will be taped for broadcast on MCTV channel 26.

The Milpitas Poetry Slam is made possible by the Friends of the Milpitas Library.

Please call Milpitas Library for additional details at (408) 262-1171 ext. 3616.
