January 27, 2010 > Dots, Doodles and Drips Dots, Doodles and Drips Jan Schafir will present an art show at Mission Coffees and More, titled "Dots, Doodles and Drips." Schafir, an art teacher of drawing and watercolor painting teaches her students the basic techniques of painting and drawing, and then concentrates on developing their individual creativity. "Because I do this," she says, "I must stimulate my own creativity. I love to try new techniques. My approach to painting started many years ago when I took a workshop here in Fremont with an internationally known painter, Betty Lynch. She taught me to throw three basic colors on to the watercolor paper, then 'find' a painting instead of looking at a photo and copying it. Voila, my attitude and approach to painting was transformed. The painting I created at that workshop will be shown in this display." Schafir says she will try any technique that fancies her creativity, and many of these are included in this show. There will be an Artist Reception on Sunday, February 14 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be provided and music at the keyboard by Jules Goldberg.
