Saturday, Jan 9:
Officers investigated an armed robbery at OO Liquors on Whipple Road. Two armed male suspects entered the store and demanded money from the clerk at gun point. The suspects then fled the store in an unknown direction.
In another case, Saturday evening, officers investigated an assault case in the area of Eric Court. A male victim was accosted by two suspects with a knife. The suspects brandished the weapon in a threatening manner and fled. Minutes later, officers detained the suspects in the area. The suspects were identified and arrested. One suspect was found in possession of drugs for sale. They both were arrested.
Monday, Jan 11:
Officers investigated an armed robbery at Perry's Liquors located on Alvarado Blvd. Two suspects entered the business and selected a candy bar. Once the victim opened the register, one of the suspects brandished a small black revolver while the other suspect emptied the register. The suspects were described as Black males approximately 18-years- old.
Wednesday Jan 13:
Members of the Union City Police SWAT Team assisted the Newark Police Department SWAT Team in arresting a dangerous parolee at-large. The suspect barricaded himself in a local hotel room and refused to surrender. Hours later, the suspect was taken into custody after tear gas was introduced into his room.
Friday Jan 15:
A solo vehicle, Ford Ranger had been driven into a power/telephone pole on Railroad Avenue. The pole had been completely sheared off the ground. Investigators determined the driver fell asleep and hit the pole. His injuries were fairly minor and he was later taken home via taxi. PG&E notified a pole crew to handle the situation. Power in the lines was cut and affected residents on Railroad Avenue and adjacent areas.
