The Art of Quilting - Landscape Impressions
Fremont artists Denise Oyama Miller and Nancy Ryan will be showing their exciting new textile artworks in a two-women show called "The Art of Quilting - Landscape Impressions" at Alexander's Fine Art in downtown Pleasanton. The show will be on display Friday, January 15 and Saturday, January 16.
An artist reception will be held on Friday, January 15 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the artists will also be available Saturday, January 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to discuss their work.
Landscape, from intimate spaces to deep space, well-known vistas to imaginary places is the focus of the show. Viewers are drawn into landscapes by an exciting interplay of color, light, and movement. The interesting thing about these artworks is that they are not painted but are made from fabric. In fact, they are quilts, part of the art quilt movement. These art quilts are reminiscent of the impressionist style of painting, very different than piecing or appliquŽ of traditional quilts. If you are looking for a unique approach to the landscape, this show is not to be missed.
