The Cesar Chavez Community Garden, off Dixon Landing Road near Weller Elementary School, has 50 plots measuring 20 ft. by 30 ft. Two are designated for the Milpitas Unified School District and one for the City of Milpitas. The remaining 47 spaces are rented to Milpitas residents, with 35 individuals on the waiting list.

Milpitas community garden plots are significantly larger than those in surrounding cities.

Annual fees for residents will double to $60 per plot and to $90 per plot for non-residents. Senior residents, aged 50 and above, will continue to pay $15 per plot per year.

Plot renewal is October 15 of each year. The new fee structure will generate $1,230 per annum for the City compared to $870 per year, previously.

The Cesar Chavez Community Garden was dedicated on April 1, 2006.
